Work Management

There has to be a better way.

Your people know which processes are slow, manual, frustrating or harder than they should be. What's harder is finding the time to step back, understand why—and determine what should change. Farsight helps you see how the work actually gets done, find where time and effort are being lost, and identify where better processes, automation and AI can make the biggest difference.

The Problem

The work gets done, but with more effort than it should.

Processes evolve over time. New systems get added. Spreadsheets fill gaps. Approvals accumulate. Employees create workarounds to keep things moving. Eventually, the process on paper bears little resemblance to how the work actually gets done.

The result is unnecessary effort, slow handoffs, duplicate work, avoidable errors and processes that depend too heavily on the people who know how to navigate them.

AI and automation create new opportunities—but adding technology to a poorly understood process can just make the wrong process run faster.

Farsight DS makes the work visible so you can see what’s getting in the way, improve the process, and determine where people, automation and AI can create the most value.

Outcomes

Build better processes.

See what’s really happening

Capture the people, systems, data, decisions and handoffs behind the process—including the workarounds that aren’t in the procedure.

Find the blockers

Surface bottlenecks, duplicate work, unnecessary steps, manual effort and dependencies that add time, cost and frustration.

Know what to change

See where to simplify the process, improve a handoff, eliminate work, strengthen a control or use technology differently.

Put AI where it makes sense

Identify where AI and automation can meaningfully reduce work or improve decisions—and where people and human judgment should remain in control.

What Farsight DS Does

See the process from end to end.

Document how work actually happens

Capture process steps, participants, systems, information, handoffs, decisions, controls and exceptions in one connected process model.

Engineer the future-state process

Redesign the process around the outcome you're trying to achieve—not the limitations of the systems and procedures that happen to exist today.

Find opportunities for AI and automation

Evaluate individual process activities for automation and AI based on effort, value, data availability, risk and the need for human judgment.

Define AI's role

Explicitly identify whether AI is gathering information, generating content, analyzing, recommending, deciding or taking an action.

Design controls into the process

Associate approvals, permissions, segregation of duties, validations, thresholds, escalation rules and human review with the steps where they matter.

Maintain evidence

Connect procedures, policies, forms, approvals, source information and execution evidence back to the process and its controls.

How It Works

From undocumented work to a governed operating process.

AI is one layer within the process, not the process itself.

See It in Practice
A manual approval process

A manual approval process looks like an automation opportunity.

An employee receives a request, finds information in multiple systems, enters it into a spreadsheet, performs several checks, emails the analysis to a manager and waits for approval. At first glance the solution seems obvious: automate it. Farsight DS breaks the process apart first.

  1. 01ResearchCan AI gather the required information?
  2. 02AnalysisWhich calculations should be deterministic and which require judgment?
  3. 03DecisionWhat can AI recommend—and what must a person decide?
  4. 04ControlWhat needs to be validated before approval?
  5. 05AuthorityWho can approve the transaction?
  6. 06EvidenceWhat must be retained to demonstrate what happened?

The result isn't simply a faster version of the old process. It's a better process with technology, people and controls intentionally designed into it.

Getting Started

Start with one process.

You do not need a company-wide transformation to begin.

01

Select

Choose a process that is expensive, slow, risky or difficult to manage.

02

Discover

Capture how the process actually operates across people, systems and information.

03

Engineer

Design the better process and determine where people, conventional automation and AI belong.

04

Implement

Put the process, technology, governance and controls into practice.

Don't have the internal resources to implement it? Farsight DS Process Engineering & Implementation can take the project from process design through technology implementation, employee education and change management.

One product
Solve a specific problem.
A single Farsight DS product delivers value on its own, against the systems you already run. This is a complete, useful deployment — not a phase one.
+ Forms & WorkflowsRun the designed process
Turn the designed process into executable workflows, forms, approvals and tasks.
+ Files & KnowledgeConnect the knowledge behind it
Connect policies, procedures, evidence and institutional knowledge to the processes they govern.
+ Risk ManagementTie process failures to enterprise risk
Connect process failures, exceptions and control weaknesses to enterprise risk.

Manage larger process-improvement and implementation initiatives.
+ Daily BriefSurface what needs attention
Surface exceptions, delays, control failures and emerging risks that require management attention.
Every product is useful on its own. Nothing here is a prerequisite for anything else.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Do we need to document our processes before using Farsight DS?

No. Discovering and documenting how the process currently works is part of the product.

Does Farsight DS automatically recommend where to use AI?

Farsight DS evaluates process activities based on the work being performed, available information, potential value, risk and required human judgment. The organization remains responsible for deciding how AI should participate.

Is this only for processes that will use AI?

No. Many improvements require better process design, clearer responsibilities, conventional automation or stronger controls rather than AI.

Can Farsight DS document processes that span multiple departments?

Yes. Processes can include participants, systems and handoffs across functions so the entire process can be evaluated rather than optimizing individual departments in isolation.

How does Farsight DS handle AI governance?

Governance is attached to the process and activity where AI is used, including the role AI plays, information it can access, actions it can take, required human oversight and controls.

Does Farsight DS implement the redesigned process?

The product supports documentation, analysis, design and governance. For organizations that need additional resources, Farsight DS's Process Engineering & Implementation service can help carry the project through configuration, implementation, education and change management.

Does Farsight DS replace our ERP, CRM or other systems?

No. Your ERP, CRM, HRIS, operational systems and document repositories stay where they are and remain where the work gets done. Farsight DS reads from them and connects the information across them.

Do we have to license the other products?

No. Every product is useful on its own, and none is a prerequisite for another. Each one you add gives the others more context, so start with the one you need and add more when they create value.
